Michelle and her daughter Stephanie
My name is Michelle Lose and I am the owner of Elegant Originals. I am a 4th grade elementary teacher with a Masters Degree in Education. During the summer of 2000 my 3 year old daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. I had always been a very creative person, and in order to find a way to deal with my daughters illness, I decided to find a way to channel my energies by making arts & crafts. I began to focus on wedding related items after getting wonderful feedback from family and friends. Thus began, Elegant Originals, a company I created to provide various wedding accessories to brides. I found that my wedding sneakers became a big hit on the internet. I now offer various selections with more designs coming out soon. I enjoy talking to people from all over the United States and Internationally about their upcoming weddings. My shoes have been seen all over the world including Ireland, Japan, Canada, Mexico, England, and Switzerland! This has been a very rewarding project for me in more ways than one. I am able to keep focused on something positive and I enjoy receiving the many wonderful compliments about my work from my customers. I love having a part in the wedding industry and I enjoy knowing I was able to play an important part in making the bride a little more comfortable on her special day! One of our designs, Princess Stephanie is named after my 8 year old daughter. I am happy to announce She was cured of her cancer this October. Hurray!!!! I donate a portion of every sale to The Leukemia Research Foundation. It is due to their research and other foundations that we have such medical advancements in the area of childhood cancer. This year we more than doubled our sales from last year, allowing us to make an even bigger contribution to this charity. Thank you for purchasing with us & making a difference!

Michelle Lose, Ms. Illinois International 2003
I was the reigning Ms. Illinois International 2003. I had the opportunity to speak on Children's Cancer Research during my platform speech at the pageant and will continue to do so throughout my reign this year. My goal is to help increase awareness of the need for further childhood cancer research so that all children diganosed with cancer, have the chance at life. I also have a website at www.kidswithcancer.org to help parents with newly diagnosed children to find helpful online resources on children's cancer. Some other organizations I have assisted are the United Way Foundation, For Kids Sake Bowlathon, and The Make a Wish Foundation.
